Let me just start by saying that this is a very beautiful watch and unlike anything else in it’s price range.
This is my first automatic watch and I’m very happy.
The 4R36 movement is regarded highly by watch reviewers and I purchased this watch after watching many reviews on YouTube and doing a lot of research. The best thing about this movement is that we can hand wind the watch and it also supports hacking which is difficult to be found in a watch of this price.

The blue dial looks gorgeous and only from some angles looks black sometimes.
It’s a bit more dark than expected.
I have to get the links adjusted from a local watch shop as it is a bit loose.

I got it for 14k during the Amazon Great Indian Festival.

I am writing this review after just 1 hour of receiving the watch.
It is advised that you set the date, day and time only after reading the manual guide or else you can break the watch from inside.

The lume is not that strong to be honest.
I had to recharge it through my phone’s flashlight but after sometime it was gone again and I couldn’t see the watch indices in the dark.

Also I am not happy with Amazon as I received the product 8 days after ordering. The delivery was super slow for some reason.
I live in Jabalpur and normally it takes around 2-3 days or 5 days at maximum. I’m extremely disappointed in Amazon.

And also the warranty card of the watch was not stamped and dated. The seller said that we can claim warranty by showing the invoice received from Amazon and matching the serial number which is unique for every individual watch but still I’m not happy with this thing.
I have read somewhere on the internet that Seiko doesn’t give warranty if the warranty card is not stamped. So this is not a good thing for the seller (Vee Ess Sales Pvt. Ltd.).
But because of the warranty card issue and slow delivery by Amazon , I don’t want to reduce the stars on this review because the watch definitely deserves 5 stars.
Overall I’m happy and I think whoever is looking to buy an automatic watch between 10k-20k range should go for it without thinking much.

Somehow seiko never figured in my collection list, though I had known the brand. My brother suggested me to take a look at the seiko, and a seiko 5 is a collectors choice among base collections. So I went to check this out at an Ethos store. Boy. This is absolute brilliance. the simplest automatic watch you cqn grab. But the 40mm case and the build is just par excellence. I rued the fact, I didnt buy this earlier. I absolutely loved this watch There are couple of builds, Malaysia, China and japan. Grab whichever you get.

My wife ordered this for me as a birthday gift. It’s the perfect starter watch for an elder millenial like me, who has never owned an automatic watch before. The blue dial is gorgeous and the size is perfect – not too big or small. The strap is not exactly the best quality, but you can change it if you don’t like it. The one surprise for me was that the watch felt heavier than I expected, for its size. Fit is very comfortable and the smooth sweep of the second hand is pleasing to watch. There is a fair bit of lume on the markers and the hands, but it loses its charge quite rapidly. Just 5 minutes are enough to get rid of the luminous effect.

The watch tends to lose time (about a minute over 5-6 days), so it isn’t the best in terms of accuracy, but it’s pretty par for the course at this price level for automatics. I just set mine to about a minute ahead when I reset it. The only other note is that the off-center winder tends to squeak a little when I hold the watch to my ear and move it around (holding the belt).

All in all, it’s a pretty good watch. I would certainly recommend it for anyone getting their first automatic watch.

The 40mm case size fits smoothly and looks good on the wrist. The automatic movement is a plus. However, the 41 hours power reserve claim by Seiko in the specifications is questionable. A full wind can last upto 18-20 hours once off the wrist. The polish on the steel case easily shows minor scratches so if you’re planning to use this roughly as a daily wear watch, you might want to be careful. Overall it’s a good entry level watch if you’re making your first investment into the world of mechanical watches.

After watching multiple online reviews and videos about the srpe 53k, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one, and now I honestly don’t know why I waited. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for years.

I wore a gada for years in my circa 2003 tag Heuer link auto, but it eventually needed service and repair, and so while it was being done, I branched out into the watch collecting world and have since acquired several other watches, of many different styles.

Following that watch, I’d assumed I’d want a dive watch, since the watch I didn’t get back then was the seamster pro. However, after eventually getting one and several other divers, I kept gravitating back to explorer like watches. However, my need to repair my tag and even my smp later on (thankfully still under warranty) got me spooked on using any pricey watch as a real daily. And the quartz watches I had never really replaced the feeling of an auto watch used as a daily (needing to wear it to keep it going).

Naturally I then gravitated to homages since they were cheap and cheerful and automatic Problem was I still didn’t like having a homage be my gada daily either. Felt off for one of those to be my most worn watch so to speak (the lynchpin of my collection).

Then the srpe came out. Bezelless dive watch from a respectable brand with all the provenance of the venerable skx clearly seen in the dial, hands and case and with an in house movement, but at almost homage pricing. And yet I didn’t pull the trigger.

Maybe it was the hardlex, the case size, the unscrewed crown or reports of the iffy bracelet, or the day date (not my preference), or that I already had a pd1692, which was pretty good and with better specs.

However, this year, after finally accepting that the pd wasn’t going to be my daily, and too fearful to lose my recently acquired longines conquest 39 to repair from overuse, and also having the excuse of my wife asking me what I wanted for Xmas, I decided finally to bite the bullet and see (via prime no less in case I changed my mind) if the srpe 53k was all the reviewers said it was.

And am I glad I did. I never had an skx so had no idea how nice that case is. The sides are awesome and make a 40mm oyster case feel slabsided and too sharp. Also now that I’ve had the longines with it’s sharp crown, I fully appreciate the comfort of the 4 o’clock crown on the Seiko 5. And the lightweight bracelet is actually comfortable and pretty good, and I recently realized I prefer these hollow bracelets for comfort (had already swapped the one on the pd for the hollow bracelet from my invicta). As for the stamped clasp, I don’t mind it. What people never talk about is the reduced weight and size that comes with a stamped clasp. Also that you can bend or flatten the stamped parts to make the bracelet ever so slightly tighter or looser on your wrist (which you obviously cannot do on a milled one, though I did watch one video where someone had to do that with a vise to fix an oddly curved one. The case size while 40mm like the pd1692, looks smaller and a better fit on my 7 inches wrist (feels like a
39mm). The push pull crown is fine for swimming (have done plenty with the sur) and can be very convenient when winding (also you can foul screw down crowns; broke my mako screw down pusher and that crown also stuck). And finally that blue sunburst dial is just awesome. It fades from blue to black depending on the light and I find myself checking it out constantly. Plus lumibrite lume is so good it beats all of my watches save my Omega.

In the end, I’m well glad I got one, and I suspect if you’re wondering about it like did, you might too.

Watch is perfect and no compromised on its quality. But the only problem buying online is you will no get a filled up warranty card in every case . In my case I didn’t gent a filled one . So I can’t clam the warranty that company provided . Thats the only inconvenience I found.

Watch looks were good and it was eye pleasing. The performance of the watch is also top notch.
The watch performs as how it is intended to.
The time is also accurate and is plus minus 10 seconds than the original set and now maintaining the same time for 15 days.
Lume is bright but fades of within minutes.
Overall a watch worth of its price.

Need to wait to check the long term performance

    So far so good

I like the watch but wears a bit small for my taste. Dial and luminosity are good but wish it was a little bit bigger, maybe 42mm. Otherwise like the watch and will try to get used to wearing a smaller sized watch.

Máquina sumamente precisa, me vino sin certificado (consideró que en estos tipos de relojes no es relevante)

I bought this watch to wear on vacation and it is a great watch for the money. Mine runs very well within a few seconds a day, much better than spec. The hand winding feels good and even though it isn’t screw down crown the water resistance held up to a week of being in the ocean. The bracelet is adequate and I was able to get a good fit but I wish there was more than 2 points of micro adjustment on the clasp. I have a smaller wrist but the case is a great size that would work on many different wrist sizes. It looks great 20mm straps as well. I’m not a fan of the flat hardlex crystal so I swapped for a double domed sapphire and I highly recommend that mod, there are lots of parts for SPRE’s out there and at the low price it is fun to work on.
