I began using a hair trimmer when I started working in remote ares of Northern Canada on a regular basis … there are no barbers or hair stylers for hundreds of kilometres, so it’s either go without or cut your own. For safety as well as hygienic reasons, I prefer to regularly trim my beard and hair.

My old cordless trimmer worked well for about ten years, but one day it abruptly started making loud and unusual noises, and quickly stopped working altogether. Since I was used to trimming myself, it made sense to replace it … the savings compared to going to a barber or hair salon add up quickly to the cost of a trimmer, so there is no downside provided you choose wisely.

I had been looking at some consumer-grade trimmers from Panasonic; they are a brand I’m familiar with and I’m satisfied with the quality of their products. Almost by accident I came across this Gillette Fusion ProGlide 3-in-1 Styler for a little more than $20 … about one half to one third’ the cost of the units I had been considering.

Since my needs were simple … cut the hair, at a relatively short length, and I could live with the beard and hair being the same length, so I decided to buy the Gillette. I read the reviews here at Amazon and found pretty much everyone, including those who gave low-star ratings, complained about the shaver rather than the trimmer functions.

I already had a Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power razor, which gave me the closest and cleanest shave I’d ever experienced, so I didn’t need the razor function of this 3-in-1. It comes with a Fusion ProGlide blade, which works perfectly in my existing razor and is worth about $5, so I decided I would continue to use my razor and could use the included blade with my ProGlide Power as a bonus.

The trimmer is a bit small with maybe an inch and a half (37mm) overall trimmer width. But, I have the time to spend an extra minute or two compared to my old and now broken, standard sized trimmer. The speed of the trimmer motor, and overall comfort was fine, with no pulling or cuts in use. It’s compact overall dimensions makes navigating the beard easy, and although you have to go over the beard a few times overall to get a nice, even beard length, it’s better to have the easy maneuverability than to have to deal with areas the trimmer handle gets in the way of reaching comfortably.

At the cost of a single beard trim at the barber or in a salon, you get a good trimmer. I did check out the razor attachment and I’m confident it would be the equal of my ProGlide Power razor in most areas, but it’s bulkier than the razor handle. Still, for travelling, some might prefer just the one unit rather than carrying both the 3-in-1 trimmer and a separate razor. In my case, I disposed of the razor attachment and will carry both.

I don’t find it suitable for cutting hair, on the other hand, as the width of the trimmer blade is just not enough for a bigger job like a haircut. If you had to, you could use it, however. So, I am going to buy a dedicated hair trimmer, which should be easier and work better than trying to use a hair trimmer that compromises in order to perform both as a beard and hair trimmer.

I would recommend the Gillette Fusion Proglide 3-in-1 Styler for those who wear a beard but use a barber or stylist for haircuts.

If you want a compact and versatile tool for travel, you can use it to trim hair and shave as well.

In combination with my Gillette ProGlide Power razor, which works extremely well … the best shave ever, for this craggy 50+ year old beard … and a good hair trimmer with a larger trimer width and more length options, you have the best of all possible worlds as far as managing the average male’s hair and beard trim.

I order it on the name of Gillate. But it is just a lollypop. It is just a toy. Its sustainability is doubtful. It has no any packet where itself and it’s tiny accessories to be kept. It is operated by a pencil battery which is also worthless and costly. Overall it is worthless.
