Not at all painful. 1. Scrub the area with ice 2. Mark your position 3. Hold the piercer straight Press n then it’s in . But the hole is too tiny . Perfect for seconed stud. But you can make the hole wider later.

It’s not the most sophisticated ear piercing equipment you will come across, but does its job well. Some plastic remained stuck on the stud after piercing and it needed to be gently plucked off. I stay pierced without any problems for months now.
